During an earnings name with investors, Elop stated "later this quarter a brand new Lumia system is anticipated to have hero status with a number one US carrier." Additionally, Elop says this new Lumia will "mark the start of a season of recent product introductions." While Elop has previously refused to reply questions about the Lumia 928, The Verge understands the machine shall be made obtainable on Verizon as part of a joint advertising effort with Microsoft.

Elop's hints at a new wave of Lumia devices is likely a reference to two new upcoming handsets. Codename Catwalk is expected to ship as Nokia's new aluminum Lumia, with alleged pictures of the device appearing on the internet earlier this week. Nokia is also preparing an "EOS" Windows Phone version of its PureView 808 device, with a high resolution camera. Both devices are expected to be made available by the end of the year.
Nokia revealed its quarterly results earlier today, and Elop's hints come as the company faces continued struggles trying to crack the US market. While Nokia's financial results are encouraging, and its Lumia sales at a record high, US sales are starting to decline once again. With a flagship Lumia device for one of the big US carriers on the horizon, Nokia's clearly hoping this will turn its rolling thunder into a reality.
