News: 2014 Kawasaki Teryx4 Preview

Though the unique Kawasaki Teryx4 is less than two years outdated, it has received massive upgrades for the 2014 model yr - including the primary 800-class engine ever in a Japanese UTV.
Replacing Kawasaki's a lot-cherished 749cc V-Twin is a brand new 783cc 90-diploma V-Twin, which generates 10 % more torque and eight p.c extra horsepower. And while you'd expect a more powerful engine to drink extra gasoline, Kawasaki boasts a 20-% improve in gas economy - from 13.1 mpg to 15.7 mpg.

Kawasaki also partnered with Fox to outfit the 2014 Teryx4 with gas-charged Fox Podium shocks with piggyback reservoirs to control 8.0 inches of suspension travel up front and 8.3 inches in the rear. These shocks are fully adjustable for spring preload and 24-way compression damping.

Another change for 2014 is that the non-EPS version is not available. We can only assume this is because the majority of consumers were buying EPS-equipped models and it didn't make sense for Kawasaki to carry a model that was not selling.
The 2014 Kawasaki Teryx4 is available in standard trim ($15,799 – Super Black or Sunrise Yellow), an LE version ($16,999 – Candy Lime Green or Candy Burnt Orange) and a Camo version ($16,299 – Realtree APG HD). As expected, those numbers are all significantly higher than the earlier versions – between $1,300 and $1,800 more.

Both the LE and Camo models come with new LED headlights and a cab roof/sun top. Other features of the Teryx4 LE include lightweight cast aluminum wheels, three-tone high-backed bucket seat covers and shock spring and suspension arms color matched to the bodywork.
Everything else on the Teryx4 is a carryover.

We've got a 2012 Teryx4 in our garage right now and we can't wait to test out the 2014 version to see how the improvements feel. We'll keep you posted as soon as we have a chance to get our hands on one.
Though Kawasaki hasn't said anything yet, you can expect to see the new 783cc mill in the two-seat Teryx as well – probably within the next couple of months. . According to a document released by the California Environmental Protection Agency Air Resources Board, the 2014 Kawasaki Teryx two-seater will also feature the new, more powerful V-Twin.
